Apple’s rumoured smartphone, iPhone SE 2020 (or iPhone 9/iPhone SE 2), will probably be introduced next week, a report said. The latest development comes days after Apple suggested the iPhone 8 concept to be used for the next-generation iPhone SE.
Meanwhile, Apple-watching analyst Jeff Pu’s recent report also indicated that certain rumoured iPhone 12 units might be released in October instead of September.
Though, if the rumours regarding the iPhone 12 are real, it’s not going to be the first time that Apple launches different mobile units in intervals. In 2018, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max were launched in September and iPhone XR was launched in October. Apple has not officially confirmed the unveiling of either the iPhone SE 2020 or the iPhone 12 and all the details can be treated with a pinch of salt.
According to a report by MacRumors citing Pu, iPhone SE’s sequel – iPhone SE 2020 is expected to be announced: “as early as next week.” Also, another article indicated that Apple’s new ‘budget’ iPhone will be named iPhone SE 2020 instead of iPhone 9 or iPhone SE 2 reported earlier. It was also stated that the latest iPhone SE-successor would be an updated variant of the iPhone 8 launched in 2017. In addition, a 4.7-inch touchscreen, Touch ID home button, A13 chip, 3 GB RAM and up to 256 GB of storage are tipped to the latest SE handset.
In addition, Pu in the report also claims that the existing iPhone 12 “EVT” or “Engineering Verification Test” stage has been extended for the 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch models by two weeks until late April. The EVT of the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 model is postponed to mid-May, the report added. The delay in EVT as Pu states are attributed to travel and cargo flight restrictions in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Consequently, the report argues that the iPhone 12 (5.4-inch) and iPhone 12 Pro (6.1-inch) will be launched in September, while the iPhone 12 Pro Max (6.7-inch) could be released in mid-October.
